Deco XE75 vs Asus BD5 Which One Gives You Better Value

Tp-link released two products in the middle class network segment based on wifi 6e technology, deco xe75 with 6GHz band. How good this product is compared with Deco BE25 and how this product will compete with Asus BD5 wifi 7?

In this article:

What this Deco xe75 does

Wifi 7 products have been around on the market; however the previous models of wifi 6 and 6e products are still available in the market and they are still worth of buying. In the middle range of wifi 6e, deco introduced Deco xe75 and deco xe75 pro. The deco xe75 pro comes with 2.5Gbps WAN port, while the XE75 comes with 1.0 Gbps WAN port. The other name for xe75 is deco xe5300, which is for Costco wholesale.

Deco X75

Deco xe75 vs Deco x5700

Previously TP-link introduced Deco x5700 series which is not as popular as xe75, but it offers higher total bandwidth than xe75. Both series are products with three radio bands; however deco xe75 comes with three distinct radio bands including 6GHz in addition to 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands. The latest wifi 7 standards come with 6GHz radio bands, so does wifi 6e. However, wifi 7 standards support MLO (Multi-link operations) which allows all the available bands to be aggregated for faster data throughput. Moreover, the channel bandwidth can go up to 320Mhz for fastest data transmission.

See also Deco xe75 vs Asus et8, products with the same wifi6e standards.

Backhaul link

Deco xe75 is designed by default to use @6ghz band as dedicated backhaul link between nodes. So, if you have connected devices that require connection to 6GHz band, you need to change the default setup. Enable this 6GHz band accessible by 6GHz-connected devices.

Change this radio band with an adequate SSID name as the @6GHz radio band so that your 6GHz-enabled devices can search and connect to this band. In wifi settings select the 6GHz dedicated backhaul => Main network => select Wi-fi network, the default SSID name is Deco_6GHz, you need to give the password for security reason.

On the other hand, deco x5700 comes with 2x 5GHz radio bands in addition of 2.4GHz band, you need to select one of them as dedicated backhaul. For future compatibility, choosing deco x75 is more advantage because your router is ready with 6GHz connected devices.

Deco XE75 Pro vs Deco BE25

Wifi 7 standards have been around and most networking vendors adopt this new standard into their products. TP-Link is the pioneer in releasing wifi-7 products into the market. one of the lower level of wifi7 products is Deco be25.

Different generation

So, when it comes to decide which one to choose between deco xe75 and new deco be25? What does this two products set apart? The apparent difference is wifi generation. Deco xe75 comes with previous wifi 6e standards, while the new deco be25 comes with newest wifi 7 standards.

deco be25
Deco BE25

In terms of bandwidth capacity, technically deco xe75 offers wider bandwidth capacity than be25. Xe75 offers 6GHz band that is used as cleaner backhaul link between the nodes. On the other hand, deco be25 doesn’t come with 6GHz band. However, be25 that is configured with wired backhaul, will demonstrates aggregated wired and wifi backhaul with its MLO feature.

Deco xe75 vs be25 comparison table

Both deco xe75 pro and deco be25 supports multi-gig 2.5Gbps internet services. Take a closer look at the following spec comparison table below.

Price gap between the two product series is not too large, just slightly difference. With the absence of 6GHz band which is the nature of wifi7, deco xe75 pro is more advantage than be25.

Deco Xe75 vs Asus BD5

Asus introduces various models of wifi7 products, including Asus BT10 that becomes main competitor for Deco be75 in the middle range wifi7 products, and in the lower end product, you can find Asus BD5 which competes tightly with deco be25. See also comparison between Asus BD5 and Deco be25, product comparison between low end wifi7 products.

Asus BD5

The price gap between the two products is very small; you can say they are tagged at the same price. So, which one is better value, the previous wifi 6e product or the latest wifi7 one?

Different generation

The main apparent difference is that they come in different wifi generations. Xe75 pro comes designed with previous wifi 6e with three distinct radio bands including 6GHz band. On the other hand, Asus BD5 comes designed with latest wifi7 standards, but it doesn’t include the 6GHz band.

Wired backhaul

Both of these product models also provide a wired backhaul option in addition to wifi backhaul. The addition of the wired backhaul option is very useful considering that the wired connection is resistant to all interference signals. And both systems can provide auto signal path the best used for backhaul links with this wired backhaul configuration.

Multi-Gig WAN port

Internet services is getting better and faster, and most recent additions of DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems come with 2.5Gbps Ethernet port. Both deco xe75 pro and Asus bd5 come equipped with 2.5Gbps WAN port, so you can connect to high speed cable modem such as Surfboard S33 or Netgear CM2000.

Google Nest Wifi

Google Nest Wifi Pro vs Deco BE25 Which One is Worth it

Google Nest Pro WiFi 6E has been on the market for a while now. What about the previous generation of Google Nest WiFi (2nd generation), is it still a worthwhile purchase? And which one is better value between Google nest pro and Deco BE25?

In this article:

Google Nest wifi

Like other mesh WiFi systems, Google Nest WiFi which is the second generation of Google wifi replaces both your router and the need for a range extender. If one Nest WiFi unit doesn’t cover your entire house, you can simply add another Nest WiFi router or a Nest point to extend coverage.

So what sets the original Google Nest WiFi apart from the newer Nest Pro WiFi 6E model? For a detailed comparison, follow this link to learn more about Google Nest Pro vs. Deco XE75.

Nest router and Nest Point

The Google Nest WiFi system is versatile and can be built to suit your needs. You can start with one or more Nest WiFi routers to provide solid WiFi coverage throughout your home, or add one or two Nest points as extenders. In addition to extending your WiFi signal, Nest points also function as Google Assistant devices, featuring sensitive microphones and 360-degree sound systems that allow you to play music or interact with them through voice commands.

Google Nest Wifi

If your Google nest wifi kit consists of two or three Nest router units, you need to add smart speakers for voice assistant. Google nest kit consists of nest router and one or two nest points. The nest points function as wifi range extender and smart speaker. Nowadays TP-link introduced similar product: the TP-Link Deco Voice X20. This Deco voice x20 comes with built-in Alexa skill and integrated with microphone arrays and speakers, and has been adopting wifi6 technology. However, the total aggregated bandwidth is ax1800 (1200 + 600Mbps), lower than Google nest that comes with 2200Mbps bandwidth.

Nest Point with built-in Alexa

The presence of the Google Nest point is especially advantageous as it eliminates the need for a separate device like Amazon Alexa. However, due to the inclusion of this feature, Amazon does not sell Google Nest point WiFi in a kit, but only in bundles of two or more Google Nest routers in a package.

In contrast, the new Google Nest Pro WiFi 6E – the latest generation of Google WiFi – comes with only one Nest router and does not include a Nest point or satellite. You have the option to build a fast WiFi 6E network with just one unit of Nest Pro, or you can add one or more units to extend coverage up to 6,000 square feet with three nodes. When you need voice assistant capabilities, you can simply add a separate Alexa or Google Assistant device.

Google Nest vs Google wifi

Google’s entry into the mesh WiFi router market began with Google WiFi, a popular product that has been competing strongly with the pioneering Eero mesh WiFi system. But what sets these two Google WiFi models apart? Is it still worth considering the original Google WiFi, or should you opt for the newer Nest Pro model?

Nest Router

At the heart of the Nest WiFi system is the Nest WiFi router, which serves as the brain of the setup and features AC2200 MU-MIMO dual-band WiFi technology. In my opinion, this model can be likened to entry-level mesh WiFi 6 products like the TP-Link Deco PX50 or Deco X50-poe.

Compared to Google WiFi, which is based on AC1200 dual-band technology, the Nest WiFi router is almost twice as fast, and four times faster than the Google Nest Pro. So if speed is a priority, the Nest WiFi router is definitely worth considering.

Both Google WiFi and Google Nest use WiFi backhaul, but the latter offers faster networking when using WiFi backhaul, especially when using a kit that consists of one Nest router and two Nest points. However, wired Ethernet backhaul provides a more stable connection, especially when using Google WiFi with wired backhaul.

When using Google Nest with two Nest points, WiFi backhaul is the only option, as the Nest points do not have Ethernet ports. However, if you have a Google Nest kit with all Nest routers, you can use wired backhaul with a daisy chain topology.

Processor

Take a look at the comparison table below to see the differences between the two Google product series. Note that each product has a different processor with varying performance and memory capacity. The Nest boasts a quad-core processor with twice the clock speed of Google WiFi, which makes it capable of handling more intensive processing tasks.

Interestingly, the new Google Nest Pro only comes with a dual-core ARM processor, which is less powerful than its predecessor. The reason for this downgrade is unclear.

The price of the 3-pack Nest kit has significantly decreased following the release of the new Google Nest Pro model in the market. The Google Wifi AC1200 (3-pack) continues to be a popular option in the entry-level segment, with its price currently sitting at $150 on Amazon.

In a nutshell, the following lists the pros and cons for new Google Nest Pro.

Pros:
  • WiFi 6E support: Google Nest Pro is equipped with the latest WiFi 6E technology, providing faster speeds, lower latency, and better performance in high-density areas.
  • Dynamic Backhaul: Nest Pro’s dynamic backhaul allows it to choose the best available band to link between nodes, optimizing the network’s performance and stability.
  • Simple setup and management: Google Nest Pro can be easily set up and managed through the Google Home app, which is user-friendly and provides access to advanced features such as parental controls, guest network creation, and more.
  • Compatibility with Google Assistant: Nest Pro works seamlessly with Google Assistant, allowing users to control their network using voice commands and enjoy smart home integration.
Cons:
  • Limited Ethernet ports: The Google Nest Pro has only two Ethernet ports, which can be a limitation for users who need more wired connections.
  • Expensive: Google Nest Pro is relatively expensive compared to other mesh WiFi systems on the market, making it less accessible to budget-conscious consumers.
  • Lack of advanced customization options: While the Google Home app is easy to use, it doesn’t provide advanced customization options for power users who want to fine-tune their network settings.

If your connected devices at home are wifi5 products, legacy Google wifi and Google nest 2nd generation remain suitable. However, if you wish to upgrade to the next level of WiFi 6 technology, you may consider purchasing the Google Nest Pro. And today you can find wifi 7 products are emerging on the market, ranging from the entry level up to ultimate high end costly wifi 7 products.

Now, when it comes to select between Google nest pro wifi 6e and entry level of Deco BE25 wifi7 product, which one is worth it if the prices are almost the same?

Google Nest Pro vs Deco BE25

Google Nest pro wifi 6e had been around in the market for couple of years, while today you can find heaps of wifi 7 products available on the market. For lower budget, you can taste the latest wifi 7 technology by selecting the entry level product such as Deco BE23, BE25 or Asus BD4 or BD5.

Google Nest Pro

Let’s pick Deco BE25 and compare it with Google Nest Pro, you can refer to table 2 below for spec comparison between these two models.

Wifi Generation

The main difference is the wifi generation difference. Google nest pro comes with the enhancement of wifi6 standards, while Deco BE25 comes with the latest wifi7 technology. However, the Deco BE25 doesn’t feature the nature of wifi7 in nature. Wifi7 typically comes with 6GHz radio band, but BE25 doesn’t. Deco be25 is a dual band wifi7 without 6GHz band; however the MLO (Multi Link Operation) feature makes this be25 set apart with Google nest pro.

Backhaul

The other difference you can find is the backhaul feature approach. Nest Pro’s backhaul is dynamic, utilizing all the bands available to choose the best link between nodes. In contrast, Deco be25 combines both wired and wireless aggregated backhaul for much faster link between the nodes due to its nature feature of MLO.

deco be25
Deco BE25

Deco be25 doesn’t come with the 6GHz band, but Nest Pro does. When your connected devices support the 6GHz band, the Nest will automatically connect the device to the 6GHz band, it features band steering to connect the best available band.

Multi-Gig Ports

TP-Link be25 comes equipped with dual multi-gig 2.5Gbps ports, but Nest pro is only 1.0Gbps. You can connect the BE25 to high speed modem such as Surfboard S33 for multi-gig internet plan up to 2Gbps. On the other hand, Google nest pro can support only up to 1Gbps Internet speed.

With the emerging of wifi7 products, wifi 6e products are still worth of buying. Thanks to the prices are getting drop over time. Let’s take the ultimate models of Netgear and Asus and delve the details to see which one is suitable to meet your home network.

In this article:

Netgear Nighthawk Wifi 6e Routers

In addition of Orbi wifi 6e series, currently there are few models of wifi 6e routers that netgear released to the markets and three of the top notch models are:

  • Raxe300
  • Raxe450
  • Raxe500

Like Netgear, Asus introduces few models wifi 6e routers and two of them are Asus gt-axe11000 and Asus gt-axe16000 wifi 6e routers. We’ll focus on Netgear raxe500 and Asus gt-axe11000 to see which one is suitable to meet your home network.

The market share for middle range network segment products is huge enough as opposed to high end top notch products. The demand of axe11000 routers is not as large as the market share of the medium network segment. However, vendors must release this premium product, at least providing vendor branding with leading-edge technology. Today you can find that few models of top notch wifi7 products available on the market, while the entry level ones come later.

Netgear raxe500
Netgear raxe500

The Wifi 6e is the enhancement of wifi-6 technology with the addition of @6GHz radio band so that the wifi 6e router provides three distinct radio bands besides @2.4GHz and @5GHz. If you are wondering if there are compatible adapters with 6GHz band radio, today you can find few models of PCI-E adapters available on the market with wifi 6e technology.

Netgear wifi 6e Routers comparison

The price points for each of the three series differ around $100, and the most expensive one is Netgear raxe500. The price of the first time raxe500 was released to the market was around $599.99. And today it is dropped up to $340 on Amazon.

These three product series have few hardware spec differences you can refer to table 1 below.

Multi-Gig Internet Ports

These three series provide a multi-gig internet speed plan when the requirement exists. Under normal circumstances the default of these three routers uses 1.0Gbps WAN port. However, if you need multi-gig internet speed, the 2.5Gbps multi-gig port can be configured to work as high speed WAN port instead of LAN port. The default setting for this 2.5Gbps port is high speed LAN port.

Almost all wifi 6e routers come with multi-gig internet speed port including Asus rog rapture gt-axe11000 and also TP-Link Archer AXE300 which comes with a 5.0 Gbps wan port.

Port Configuration

How to enable this 2.5Gbps port to work as a WAN port? Indeed, this port by default functions as multi-gig LAN port, so if you need a multi-gig internet port then enable the port to become a WAN port. Use your web browser and access http://www.routerlogin.net enter the admin user and password, and then select Internet to open the Internet Setup page. Select the Multi-Gig Port (2.5/ 1Gbps) radio button in the WAN preference and click Apply.

Unlike netgear raxe300, the netgear raxe450 and raxe500 in addition to providing the option of a 2.5Gbps multi-gig port as a wan port, both routers also provide the option of an aggregated wan port with LAN port-1 to provide an aggregated link multi-gig WAN port so you can still take advantage of the 2.5Gbps port as a high speed LAN port.

Make sure your modem has two Ethernet ports and supports aggregated link (LACP / Link Aggregation Control Protocol). One of the cable modems that you can use is Netgear cm1100 which is equipped with two Gigabit ports and supports LACP. You can find that Arris surfboard s33 also comes with two Gigabit Ethernet ports; however S33 does not support LACP.

Now, it’s back to the previous model of Netgear raxe500 discussion.

The main competing product for Raxe500 available in the market so far is Asus Rog rapture gt-axe11000. The price difference in the retail market for these two router models is not too much, and when it comes to choose between the two models, which one is suitable to meet your business need?

Netgear Nighthawk Raxe500 vs Asus Axe11000

As a reference, the following table 2 below shows you specs and features comparison table between netgear raxe500 and asus gt-axe11000. Both models of routers use the same wifi 6e technology, both of which work @ axe11000 network segment, three distinct radio bands and the same 4×4 data streams each radio band.

asus gtaxe11000
Asus GT-AXE11000
Body appearance

At first glance, the body appearance of raxe500, raxe450 and raxe300 looks sleek and elegant like other lines of netgear routers based on wifi6 technology in general, including netgear rax70, rax80, rax120 and netgear rax200 that use internal antenna design.

Raxe500 uses 8x internal antennas placed on its left and right wings of the body, there are four antennas on each wing. Compare with Asus which uses 8x external antennas so it looks rigid like the design of Asus routers in general.

WAN

Hardware-wise, these two router models have the same number of Ethernet ports including a multi-gig 2.5Gbps port which is configurable for either to function as wan or lan port (default is as LAN port), as well as multi-gig internet demand by utilizing aggregated wan and lan port, both of which support. How to configure a multi-gig 2.5Gbps to function as a wan port has been discussed previously, the same concept applies on asus.

In terms of internet connection, there is a major difference on asus where the gt-axe11000 provides dual wan support if you use one of the usb ports as a secondary wan connection by installing a compatible usb modem. This dual wan connection can be configured as ‘failover’ or ‘load balance’ as needed. If a continuous internet connection is a must, it’s a good idea to choose failover. When the wired internet service (the main internet) is disrupted, the internet switches to the secondary internet. When the main internet connection is back to normal, the internet will be ‘fallback’ to the main connection if the ‘allows fallback’ setting is checked.

Asus ET12 vs Orbi Rbke963 Which One Gives You Better Value

The competition in the premium top-notch axe11000 network segment has intensified with the release of several similar products following Netgear’s Orbi rbke963. The latest additions include the asus zenwifi et12 and tplink dexo xe200.

In this article

So, how does the asus et12 compare to the netgear orbi rbke963 and other mesh axe11000 wifi 6e systems? Can those products survive since the emerging of wifi 7 products on the market?

Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12

Amid the emerging of wifi7 products, Asus introduced various models of wifi7 products including Asus RT-BE96U be19000 router, as well as Asus BT6 and BT10 mesh wifi7. All the previous products that come with wifi6 and wifi6e are still worth buying, and it turn out that the prices drop significantly.

Asus has been a popular player in the mesh WiFi 6 market since the emergence of WiFi 6 products, with the Asus ZenWiFi XT8 leading the way as one of the top competitors against the Orbi RBK852. Asus then raised the bar with the introduction of two new mesh WiFi 6e products: the Asus ZenWiFi ET8 and Asus ET12. Recently, Asus also debuted their premium model, the Asus ZenWiFi XT12.

Asus Zenwifi ET12
Asus Zenwifi ET12

So, what sets apart these three  asus zenwifi series: et8, et12 and xt12?

Zenwifi ET8 vs ET12 vs XT12

Unlike typical three-radio band mesh WiFi 6 models that feature two 5GHz radio bands and one 2.4GHz band, the Asus ZenWiFi ET8 and ET12 models take advantage of the new WiFi 6e technology, with three distinct radio bands at 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz.

In terms of network segment perspective, the ET12 works on a network segment that’s twice as large as the ET8, and it boasts different signal rates and number of data streams for each radio band. While the Asus ZenWiFi ET12 and XT12 differ significantly in their WiFi technology, they operate on the same network segment with an aggregated bandwidth of up to 11,000Mbps.

4×4 MU-MIMO

Note that all three radio bands for et12 and xt12 are capable of providing 4×4 data streams, either for clients or for wifi backhaul needs. Meanwhile, with et8 only the @6Ghz radio band is capable in sending 4×4 data streams for dedicated backhaul links between nodes. On the other hand, for the other two radio bands can deliver 2×2 MU-MIMO for connected devices.

The 4×4 MU-MIMO technology in the three radio bands of the Asus ET12 and XT12 offers faster and more efficient connectivity for your home network. This means that with a 2×2 MU-MIMO capable device, such as laptops or desktops with a USB AX1800 adapter like the Fenvi AX1800, the router can deliver two data streams to two laptops in one go. So you can experience enhanced speed and performance.

On the other hand, the Asus ET8, with its 2×2 MU-MIMO technology on two of its radio bands, can deliver only two data streams to a single computer with the USB AX1800 adapter, resulting in limited speed and performance.

With its advanced technology, the ASUS ET12 and XT12 mesh WiFi 6e models surpass the previous ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 by offering 4×4 MU-MIMO on each of its three radio bands. These are theoretical calculations and actual performance may vary based on real-world conditions.

The three ZenWifi series models are equipped with multi-gig WAN ports (2.5Gbps), which can be leveraged when a higher bandwidth internet connection is required, and your modem also supports multi-gig Ethernet ports. With the emergence of high-speed DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems such as the Arris s33, Netgear cm2000, and the more affordable Motorola mb8611, you now have options to choose from for a multi-gig internet connection.

Now, let’s see how the Asus zenwifi pro et12 stacks up against the top-of-the-line Netgear Orbi rbke963 in terms of performance and features.

Asus ET12 vs Orbi Rbk963

Asus has released three routers series with abundant bandwidth of 11000mbps, one series with ax11000 wifi 6 router (asus gt-ax11000), one series is axe11000 wifi 6e router (Asus rog rapture axe11000) and the latest one is this asus zenwifi pro et12 axe11000 mesh wifi 6e system we discuss here. And today you can find asus added another ax11000 mesh wifi 6 series, asus zenwifi xt12 as we just discussed above.

Orbi RBKE963
Netgear Orbi RBKE963

Table 2 below shows you spec and feature’s comparison between asus et12 and orbi rbk963 products.

Wifi design

The Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12 and the Netgear Orbi RBK963 are both high-performing mesh WiFi systems that offer fast and reliable internet speeds. Both devices offer a total bandwidth of up to 11,000Mbps, with the main difference between the two being in the distribution of bandwidth across their respective radio bands.

While the Orbi RBK963 comes with four radio bands, the Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12 has three. The Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12 utilizes the 6GHz radio band both as a dedicated backhaul link and for sharing with other compatible WiFi 6e devices. On the other hand, the Orbi RBK963 uses this band as a compatible connection for all devices, ensuring all connected devices can interact with the router faster and with multiple data throughput.

Both the Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12 and the Netgear Orbi RBK963 provide approximately the same 4×4 data stream for each radio band, ensuring all compatible devices can have faster interactions with both routers. This provides a smoother and more efficient internet experience for multiple clients simultaneously.

Backhaul link

Both the Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12 and the Netgear Orbi RBK963 utilize multiple radio bands to manage communication between the router and satellite nodes. While most mesh wifi systems communicate via a wifi connection, both products also offer the option for wired backhaul if that’s possible.

The Asus Zenwifi Pro ET12 uses the 6GHz radio band for both backhaul and as a connection to compatible 6GHz-based devices. It also has the option for automatic backhaul between wifi and wired, and the system will choose the best route for backhaul.

On the other hand, the Netgear Orbi RBK963 uses the 6GHz band for compatible 6GHz devices, while the dedicated 5GHz band is used for backhaul and another 5GHz radio band is used for all compatible 5GHz devices. This offers a slightly different approach, but both products aim to provide fast and efficient communication for all connected devices.

Wired backhaul

Both the Asus ET12 and Orbi RBK963 offer multiple LAN ports, allowing for the wired backhaul option to be utilized. This is beneficial as it eliminates the need for data to be transmitted through one or multiple satellite nodes before reaching the mesh router, as seen in daisy chain topology. Instead, a star topology can be employed, connecting satellite nodes directly to the mesh router for improved performance.

Ethernet Ports

Both the Asus ET12 and the Netgear Orbi RBK963 are equipped with multi-gig Ethernet ports, providing more connectivity options than traditional Wi-Fi routers. Both routers can be connected to multi-gig modems, such as the Arris S33, Motorola MB8611, or Netgear CM2000, all of which are DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems that work with major cable providers.

What sets the Orbi RBK963 apart is its 10Gbps WAN port, providing incredibly fast internet speeds of up to 10Gbps. Currently, not many consumers have access to internet plans that are capable of utilizing such speeds, but you can look into providers like Sonic Fiber to see if they offer 10Gbps plans.

The 10Gbps WAN port is ahead of its time and is likely preparing for the future implementation of 10G internet and DOCSIS 4.0 cable technology in the next few years.

Asus Gtaxe11000 Gaming Router vs Netgear Which One is Better

One of the enhancements of wifi 6 technology is the addition of distinct @6ghz radio band in addition to the existing two radio bands @2.4Ghz and @5ghz. This makes wifi 6e routers provide three distinct radio bands, similar as wifi 7. Asus comes with its Gteaxe11000 and Gtaxe16000, and its counterpart Netgear comes with its Raxe500.

In this article

Asus rog rapture gtaxe11000

Before wifi7 emerges, there were several vendors released their wifi 6e routers to the market, including Asus, Netgear, tp-link and Linksys. And to provide a pair of wifi 6e routers, there are few vendors have also released 6GHz adapters, either for laptops or desktop computers.

What is wifi 6e?

The wifi 6e technology is the same as wifi 6 with the addition of the 6GHz radio band spectrum in addition to the two existing radio bands (@2.5GHz and 5GHz).

The Wifi 6e router implements a three different radio band instead of three bands consisting of two 5GHz radio bands and one 2.4GHz. All the features on wifi 6 routers are on wifi 6e plus a different 6GHz radio band. Asus rog rapture gtaxe11000 and netgear raxe500 are two of few wifi 6e router models available in the market today.

Asus gtaxe11000
Asus GT-AXE11000

In additions of wifi 6e routers, they also offer mesh wifi 6e systems such as Asus ET8 and Netgear Orbi RBKE963.

However, the 6GHz radio band cannot be available via other AiMesh devices that do not support wifi 6e. On the other hand, nighthawk raxe500 is nature a wifi 6e router, it doesn’t support mesh wifi system.

Gamers in mind

Asus rog rapture gtaxe11000 is designed for gamers in mind with triple level game acceleration, Asus Rog devices, game packet prioritization (game boost) and shortest part to game server.

With the powerful Netgear axe11000 engine you can use it for any heavy duty networking tasks including responsive online games, 4k / 8k streaming etc.

Multi gigabit Ports

Both wifi 6e router models come equipped with one 2.5Gbps multi-gig port, however they have different functions. If you have high speed cable modem with 2.5Gbps port in place such as Netgear cm2000 or Motorola MB8611, asus axe11000 is ready for that. You can configure this 2.5gbps port either as a WAN or LAN port.

Netgear raxe500 with 2.5gbps port is especially useful for high speed LAN port that you can use for game consoles or connect to high speed NAS that comes with 2.5Gbps port such as the Asustor Lockerstor 2 AS6602T which is equipped with two 2.5Gbps ports.

With raxe500, when you require multi-gig internet speed you can combine the wan port and the lan port #1 as teaming port, aggregated link. You need to connect to cable modem with two ethernet ports and support link aggregation such as netgear cm1100 or cm1200 docsis 3.0 cable modem.

tplink deco xe75

Deco XE75 vs Asus ET8 vs Linksys Which One is Best Value

TP-link introduced deco xe75, deco xe5300 and deco xe75 pro axe5400. Which one is best value between deco xe75 pro, asus et8 and linksys atlas max?

In this article:

Deco wifi 6e series

Netgear has released mesh wifi 6e product with orbi rbke963 which is a premium one and works on the axe11000 network segment, so have asus and linksys. Asus also released a similar product in the medium network segment with its asus et8 series.

What about TP-Link that frequently offers more affordable products as opposed to its opponent: Netgear, Asus, or Linksys?

Middle tier network segment

Unlike netgear, linksys and asus, tplink precisely released wifi 6e-based product by targeting the medium network segment and at a more economical price than premium class products.

Deco XE75
TP-Link Deco XE75

This is a make sense strategy considering that those folks who want to taste wifi 6e technology with its 6GHz radio band don’t have to spend more bucks with premium products. They include Orbi rbk963 which is the first quad band product, Linksys atlas max 6e, or Asus. For this reason, tplink released deco xe75 and deco xe75 pro series that sit at ax5400 network segment. In addition of those two series of xe5400, tplink added another model with its deco xe5300 series. With this middle range network segment products, you can work and play, including gaming and video streaming. See also video streaming and webcam products Logitech meetup vs jabra panacast.

Deco xe75 vs Deco xe5300

What is the difference between Deco xe5300 and Deco xe75? They are exactly the same technically, only slightly difference on the top of the body.

If the specs are exactly the same why are they use different model names? Deco xe5300 is a series model for Costco wholesale, while deco xe75 is for other retail shops, although Amazon sells both models of these two deco series.

What about deco xe75 and xe75 pro? Exactly the same except that the pro version comes with multi-gig 2.5Gbps wan/lan port instead of 1.0Gbps port.

Deco xe75 vs Deco x90

Previously TP-link introduced deco x90 series which was so popular with higher total bandwidth than this deco wifi 6e series.

When should you select deco x90 instead of deco xe75 or deco xe5300? You can refer to the following spec comparison table below to get a better insight of these two products.

Both series are products with three radio bands; however deco xe75 comes with three distinct radio bands with an additional 6GHz in addition to two radio bands 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Today you can find adapter devices that come equipped with wifi 6e standards such as tp-link archer txe75e (pci-e based adapter) you can install on desktop computers. If you prefer the USB adapters, you can select Archer TXE50UH AXE3000 or the faster one is Archer TXE70UH axe5400 wifi 6e adapters.

If none of the devices in your home support wifi 6e (@6GHz) is it still worth buying a wifi6e-based router?

@6GHz radio band

Deco xe75, xe75 pro and deco xe5300 come by default to use @6ghz as dedicated backhaul link between nodes. If so, how can wifi 6e-based devices connect to @6GHz radio band if this band is used as dedicated backhaul?

To take advantage of the 6 GHz radio band connection, you need to enable this radio band so that it is accessible by compatible devices by changing the @6ghz radio band not as a dedicated backhaul. Change this radio band with an adequate SSID name as the @6GHz radio band so that your wifi6e devices can search and connect to this 6 GHz radio band.

Change default backhaul

In wifi settings select the 6GHz Dedicated backhaul => Main network => select Wi-fi network (you can see the default is “Dedicated backhaul”). Default SSID name is Deco_6GHz, you need to give the password for security reason.

If there is no wifi 6e client, you should leave the @6GHz radio band as dedicated backhaul (leave it by default), so that the communication link between nodes is clean from all signal interference.

On the other hand, with deco x90 comes with two 5GHz radio bands you can select which one is used as dedicated backhaul. If your system comes with three units of deco x90, you may select 5GHz band @4808Mbps as dedicated backhaul for wider bandwidth communication between nodes.

For future compatibility, choosing deco xe75 is more advantage because your router is ready with wifi 6e-based connected devices. And when the requirement of multi-gig internet exists, deco xe75 pro series is preference, however the price is more costly when you compare it with standard xe75 series.

Deco Xe75 vs Asus Et8

In the market there are several mesh wifi 6e products, most of which are premium products at a price that is more expensive than deco xe75 or deco xe5300, one of which is the asus zenwifi et8. Asus released two models of mesh wifi6e products, Asus Zenwifi et8 and Asus Zenwifi et12 pro. We will compare the deco xe75 pro with the asus et8.

The deco xe75 pro series is tagged with more expensive price than the standard xe75, 40% more expensive than xe75 series. On the other hand, when you compare the xe75 pro series with asus et8, you can find that et8 is more costly.

Asus ET8
Asus ET8

What is the technical difference between these two products that causing the price difference is quite a lot?

Different network segment

As a reference, table 2 below shows you spec comparison between these two products. Both products come with the same wifi 6e standards; however each comes with different network segment. See that technically asus et8 provides wider bandwidth than deco xe75, however distribution each radio band is different. Et8 comes designed with twice as wide bandwidth as xe75.

Link communication between nodes

Unlike deco xe75 /xe5300 as discussed above, where the radio band @6GHz by default is set as dedicated backhaul, Asus et8’s default backhaul is auto selection. By default xe75 uses the 6ghz radio band as a dedicated backhaul, so clients with compatible wifi 6e cannot access dexo @6ghz unless you change the default 6ghz band as a network as discussed above.

Asus et8 by default gives wifi 6e compatible devices to connect to 6GHz band, unless you change the dedicated backhaul to use 6GHz band. See that Asus allows you to configure the dedicated backhaul either to use 5GHz or 6GHz band, or you may use the default setting is auto selection.

Wired backhaul

Both of these product series provide a wired backhaul option in addition to wifi backhaul. The addition of the wired backhaul option is essential considering that the wired connection is resistant to all signals interference. And both systems can provide auto signal path the best used for backhaul links with this wired backhaul configuration.

With deco xe75, you need to configure 6GHz band as accessible network, not as dedicated backhaul to allow all compatible wifi 6e devices to connect optimally using 6GHz radio band instead of 5GHz band.

Both deco xe75 and et8 come equipped with more than two Ethernet ports so that for three nodes system is possible to use wired backhaul configuration, either using star or daisy chain backhaul topology.

With default backhaul configuration, Asus et8 is more convenience to allow all connected devices to connect using 6GHz radio band.

Multi-Gig WAN port

Unlike deco xe75 / xe5300 that supports only up to 1Gbps internet, with Asus et8 you can connect to modem with multi-Gig internet up to 2Gbps. Et8 comes with 2.5Gbps WAN port you can connect to high speed cable modem such as Surfboard S33 or Netgear CM2000. However, deco xe75 pro series comes with multi-gig 2.5Gbps port same as et8 for multi-gig internet plan.

Security protection

Tp-link equips its deco xe75 series with tplink homeshield, this is a kind of network security protection. You can either subscribe the premium version or the free version. The free version of tplink homeshield provides your system with standard features including network assessment scan, parental control, QoS, and reporting. For richer security features you need to subscribe homeshiled premium for $5.99 / month.

What about asus et8? Most asus premium products come with free lifetime Asus Aiprotection pro powered by trend micro.

Asus ET8

Asus Zenwifi ET8 vs Linksys Atlas Which One is Better Value

Previously before wifi7 products emerge, only a handful of vendors embraced the new Wifi 6E technology for their routers. And then, both Asus and Linksys had joined the league, releasing mesh wifi products that integrate this advanced Wifi 6E technology. Asus introduced the Asus ZenWiFi ET8, while Linksys presented the Velop Atlas AXE8400, both of which are mesh wifi 6E products. Both products are still worth of buying amid the emerging of wifi7 products.

The question arises: which of these two mesh wifi 6E offerings delivers the most value for your home wifi network?

In this article:

Asus Mesh wifi 6e routers

Contrary to wifi 6E routers like the Asus GT-AXE11000, where a single router is sufficient to cover your entire household with solid connectivity across three distinct radio bands, there are instances where dead zones may persist. While you could add a wireless range extender, not much wifi 6E-based extender supporting the 6GHz band available.

This is precisely why a mesh wifi system is essential – it blankets your entire home, from basement to attic, with a mesh router and one or more satellite nodes. This approach ensures that the signal strength and all the advantages of mesh wifi are uniformly distributed throughout your living spaces.

Asus ET8

Both Asus and Linksys had introduced their mesh wifi 6E products to the market. The question remains: how do these two mesh wifi 6E products fare against each other in the competitive landscape?

Asus ET8 vs Asus XT8

Following the notable success of the Asus XT8 AX6600 mesh wifi 6 product, Asus had unveiled another addition to its ZenWiFi series: the Asus ET8, featuring the wifi 6E technology. Beyond the inclusion of the 6GHz radio band, are there any other differentiating factors?

See also other Zenwifi lineup with wifi-7 technology; you may start with Asus Zenwifi BQ16 Pro or Asus Zenwifi BT6.

Uniform Specifications

A thorough analysis of datasheet specifications for these two series prompts a closer look at the spec comparison table provided in table 1 below. Upon review, it becomes evident that no differences in specs exist, with the sole exception being the integration of the 6GHz radio band into the new wifi 6E model of the Asus ZenWiFi ET8.

See also Asus Zenwifi XT9 vs Deco XE75 Pro wifi 6e.

Probable Shared Foundation It’s plausible that Asus utilized the same underlying prototype as the Asus XT8, incorporating minor hardware design adjustments to accommodate the introduction of the 6GHz radio band. Naturally, firmware modifications are a requisite to enable support for the wifi 6E technology.

There is not much price different between the two series today; both prices are dropped by time; asus et8 should be preference with three distinct radio bands instead of two. Now, let see what Linksys introduces in its new Atlas axe8400 mesh wifi 6e system.

Unveiling the Linksys Atlas Series

Linksys has introduced a duo of models under the Atlas series umbrella – the Atlas Pro 6 and the Atlas Max 6E. This follows the previous launch of Linksys’s Velop series, which included notable entries like the Velop MX10 and Velop AX4200. But what sets these two series apart? In both hardware and firmware, they stand as distinct entities. Let’s take a closer look at the hardware specifications between the two branches of the Linksys Atlas series, and later, we’ll draw a comparison with the Asus ZenWiFi ET8.

Linksys ATlas Max 6e
Linksys Atlas Max 6e

Differences in Wifi and Hardware

At a technical level, the wifi design between these two series diverges. The Atlas Pro operates on the foundation of wifi 6 dual-band architecture, whereas the Atlas Max 6E capitalizes on tri-band wifi 6E, bolstered by the addition of the 6GHz band, rendering all three radio bands unique. Naturally, this distinction extends to the hardware design of these two products, a fact evident in the comparison table below – from embedded processors to the intricacies of the motherboard and the array of interface ports.

Empowering the Linksys Atlas Max 6E is a formidable array of specifications, ranging from robust internet capabilities boasting high bandwidth of up to 5Gbps, to an intricately embedded onboard processor designed to maximize the performance of this mesh wifi 6E marvel.

Now, let’s embark on a comparison between the Asus ET8 and the Linksys Atlas Max 6E.

Asus ET8 vs Linksys Atlas Max 6e

At first glance, it might seem that the Asus ZenWiFi ET8 is not a directly balanced contender against the Linksys Atlas Max 6E series. The price of a 3-pack Atlas Max 6E is nearly double that of the Asus ET8 3-pack. However, a higher price tag does not guarantee proportional performance, despite the investment. Those prices were the MSRP at the first time they were released, while today with the emerging of wifi7 products, the prices are dropped significantly.

Diverse Wifi Architectures

Each series boasts distinct wifi technologies and designs. Notably, the Asus ET8 arrives with a tri-band AXE6600 setup, offering 8 streams. Conversely, the Linksys Atlas Max 6E flaunts a tri-band AXE8400 setup, armed with an impressive 12 streams. With 12 streams dedicated to each band, a remarkable 4×4 MU-MIMO capability is delivered – the pinnacle of data streams a wifi band can simultaneously serve to numerous connected devices.

At present, there are lots of wifi 6E technology adapters are available, either for desktop or laptops. One such example is the wifi 6E PCI-e adapter from OKN and Fency, both of which support 2×2 MU-MIMO. If you install these wifi 6E adapters onto two desktop computers, your mesh wifi 6E routers can concurrently send two data streams to these desktops, effectively minimizing network latency and ensuring optimal network performance.

Backhaul

The majority of connected devices in a home predominantly utilize the @2.4GHz or @5GHz radio band connections. In this context, the @6GHz band can be utilized as a dedicated backhaul, if the option is available. The Asus ZenWiFi ET8 offers the flexibility of auto backhaul selection (@5GHz and @6GHz) or manual backhaul configuration. In contrast, the Linksys Atlas Max 6E exclusively provides a dedicated @6GHz backhaul option, which is also shared with other wifi 6E clients.

Both models also extend support for wired Ethernet backhaul using UTP network cables, connecting the Ethernet port of each router and satellite node. You have the choice of deploying either a daisy chain or star topology for Ethernet backhaul connection. In a star topology, you can directly link each satellite node to the router.

The Asus ET8, equipped with 3x LAN ports, can accommodate up to 3 satellite nodes. Meanwhile, Linksys, boasting 4x LAN ports, allows you to connect up to four satellite nodes in a star topology configuration, eliminating the need for an additional unmanaged switch.

In contrast with new Zenwifi BT10 that supports 10Gbps ports. See also Deco BE85 vs Asus BT10.

Elevated Speed Capabilities

Both mesh wifi 6E routers are primed to support high-speed internet up to 2Gbps, and notably, the Linksys model comes equipped with a 5Gbps WAN port, perfect for supercharged internet plans. Worth noting is the availability of DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems, featuring a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port such as Netgear CM2000 cable modem.

Security protection

The Asus ET8 goes a step further in safeguarding your network, providing network protection through the inclusive AiProtection Pro software. This security suite combats a range of networking threats, encompassing intrusion prevention systems (IPS), as well as malicious site blocking. Adding to its security arsenal, the Asus ZenWiFi ET8 also extends VPN protection through instant guard features, guaranteeing the safety of your VPN connection from internet-based threats.

In contrast, the Linksys Atlas Max 6E lacks the provision of such comprehensive, built-in security protection available in the Asus offering.

Hardware gear

Given the Atlas’s impressive 12 streams, it necessitates robust hardware to efficiently manage processing tasks. This is aptly reflected in the presence of a quad-core 2.2GHz processor and ample memory in the Linksys Atlas router. In comparison, Asus incorporates a quad-core processor, albeit with a lower clock rate, alongside memory capacity half that of the Atlas model.

Take a look at the following table 3 below that shows you spec comparison between asus zenwifi et8 and Linksys Atlas max 6e.

Asus XT9 vs Deco XE75 Pro Which One is Better Value

Asus XT9, and other wifi 6 products are still worth amidst the emerging of wifi 7 products. How asus xt9 vs deco XE75 pro perform, which one is suitable to your home network?

In this article:

Asus Zenwifi

Asus ZenWiFi is a series of mesh Wi-Fi systems designed to provide seamless and reliable coverage throughout your home or office. The ZenWiFi series is known for its high-performance and advanced features, making it a popular choice for users seeking robust and efficient wireless networking solutions.

Asus Zenwifi XT9

Asus XT8 marked the debut of the ZenWiFi series featuring Wifi 6 technology, and then followed by Asus XT9.  With its upgraded label from XT8 to XT9, it’s natural to expect that the Asus ZenWiFi XT9 comes packed with even richer features and specs compared to its predecessor.

Asus XT9
Asus Zenwifi XT9

And today you can few models of Asus Zenwifi lineup based on latest wifi 7 technology, which is beginning the emerge the market. You can find Asus Zenwifi BT6, BT8, BT10 and still more. See also detail of Asus BT6 wifi 7.

We’ll focus on previous generation, the XT9 which is still worth it knowing that the price is getting dropped by time following the emerging of wifi 7 products on the market.

So, what sets the Asus ZenWiFi XT9 apart from the XT8 series? Let’s explore the key differences between these two ZenWiFi models.

Asus xt9 vs xt8

Let’s take a closer look at any potential specs or features differences between the two ZenWiFi series. Refer to Table 1 below for a comprehensive spec comparison.

Physical appearance

Remarkably, both series boast the same casing body, allowing for seamless interchangeability between the two. With identical item dimensions, width, length, and height, the ZenWiFi XT8, XT9, and even the ZenWiFi ET8 share a consistent physical feel and style. Be mindful of these similarities when distinguishing between these three series.

Wifi

While both ZenWiFi series share similarities in the network segment, there are subtle differences in total bandwidth. So, why did Asus introduce the XT9 when the Asus XT8 was already quite popular? The answer lies in the differences in backhaul methods between nodes.

Both series utilize dedicated backhaul at 5GHz, but the methods applied slightly differ. In the Asus XT8, you have the flexibility to choose between two 5GHz bands for backhaul, offering speeds of either 1200mbps or 4800mbps.

Backhaul options

If you opt for the two-pack model, choosing a dedicated backhaul at 4800Mbps might seem excessive, leaving only 1200Mbps + 600Mbps for connected clients. Alternatively, selecting 1200Mbps as the dedicated backhaul allows the other two bands at 4800Mbps + 600Mbps to cater to connected devices, which is also a good configuration. However, in the case of the three-pack kit, the 1200Mbps backhaul might prove insufficient, particularly with a high client density.

Recognizing this weakness, Asus introduced the ZenWiFi XT9 to address the backhaul method. The XT9 offers improved options, including a 4800Mbps dedicated backhaul, wired backhaul, and an automatic backhaul setting. This automatic backhaul option is also available on the latest Asus ZenWiFi series, such as the Asus ZenWiFi ET8 and Asus ZenWiFi ET12.

With the auto backhaul system, the XT9 provides the most suitable backhaul link under various conditions. In my opinion, the auto option proves to be the best choice when uncertainty exists regarding the system’s bandwidth requirements under different conditions. The best part is that the system handles this automatically.

In summary, the Asus ZenWiFi XT9 represents a significant improvement over the XT8, offering a larger bandwidth and enhanced capability to provide the optimal backhaul solution for varying conditions.

You’ll be surprised how the Zenwifi lineup with wifi 7 products including BT6 and BT10 blanket your home with its AI-Boosted Smart Aimesh technology.

So in a nutshell asus xt9 is one step higher level than asus xt8 with higher bandwidth, automatic backhaul link options, and also a slightly faster processor.

Asus XT9 vs Deco XE75 Pro

Asus xt9 is still based on wifi 6 technology, while the upcoming wifi 7 technology is a short coming years. Between the wifi 6 and the upcoming wifi 7 technology (which also use the same 6ghz band) is wifi 6e which is the enhancement of existing wifi 6.

When it comes to decide which one between asus xt9 wifi 6 and deco xe75 pro wifi 6e to choose to upgrade your home wifi network, what your considerations are for choosing considering that the future is wifi 7?

Let’s see what the differences between asus zenwifi xt9 and the wifi 6e product offered by tplink deco xe75 pro. Table 2 below represents spec comparison between asus xt9 and deco xe75 pro. Tplink deco xe75 pro is one of few models tplink products based on wifi 6e technology including the premium one tplink deco xe200 axe11000 mesh wifi 6e. Deco XE75 Pro
Deco XE75 Pro
Wifi design

Asus xt9 delivers total bandwidth wider than the one offered by deco xe75. However, deco xe75 is wifi 6e system that offers three distinct radio bands with the addition of 6ghz band instead of standard 2.4ghz and 5ghz radio bands in general. The upcoming wifi 7 technology is using the same 6ghz radio band as wifi 6e.

As we discussed above that asus xt9 comes with wider bandwidth than previous model xt8, and the backhaul method is redesigned with the option of auto backhaul by system for best backhaul link available in any different network conditions.

Deco xe75 by default uses @6ghz band as dedicated backhaul link between nodes, however you have few 6ghz connected devices you can opt to change the 6ghz dedicated backhaul as network to allow 6ghz products connect to the network. with asus xt9 you don’t have option to allow 6ghz products to connect to the network.

Honestly speaking, deco xe75 is based on wifi 6e will be better in welcoming the future of wifi 7 products which is also use 6ghz radio band. There will be more devices with 6ghz band to come in the future, so the readiness of your network to support 6ghz band is essential.

Google Nest Pro 6e

Google Nest Pro vs Deco XE75 Pro Which One is Worth it

It’s been long time since Google released its 2nd generation of Google Nest wifi based on legacy wireless ac (wifi5) technology, and Google did not released the successor of this one with the latest wifi6 technology for some time. While up to date you can see the emerging of wifi-6 products in various types flooding the market.

And finally Google released its latest wifi 6e-based product to the market early last quarter 2022. However, so far up to early 2025 with the emerging of wifi 7 products, google doesn’t unveil its latest wifi 7 products.

In this article:

Google Nest Pro

Many folks expected Google released the newer model of Google nest wifi based on wifi 6 standards, however Google jumped to offer Google nest pro based on latest wifi 6e technology. What is the difference? Wifi 6e is the enhancement of wifi 6 standards with the addition of 6ghz radio band, so wifi 6e delivers three distinct radio bands: 2.4, 5 and 6ghz bands.

Google Nest Pro 6e

You know that the next generation of wifi-7 technology is coming with 6ghz radio band which supports up to 320Mhz bandwidth channel for wider bandwidth support. See new iteration of Amazon eero 7 mesh wifi 7.

The first generation of google wifi device is Google wifi with legacy ac1200 segment, it’s been so popular to date and compete tightly with legacy tplink deco m5 and first generation of amazon eero. And then the second generation of google wifi is Google Nest wifi with dual band ac2200 network segment.

If you were expecting the next generation of nest wifi is nest wifi 6 series, you were wrong. Even google jumped to the latest enhancement of wifi 6 standard with addition of 6ghz band, Google nest pro axe5400 mesh wifi 6e.

Google nest vs nest pro

Google nest wifi is popular with its nest extender, the nest point / satellite to extend your wifi coverage. You have options to purchase the google nest kit with all nest routers, or you may opt to have nest router plus one or two nest points / satellites. The nest satellite is not just extending the network coverage; it comes with built-in stereo speaker and microphone that function like alexa, built-in google assistant. The nest router is embedded with two gigabit ethernet ports, but the nest satellite isn’t.

If your network comes with all Google nest routers (without nest satellite), or comes with Google Nest Pro, you may add Google nest mini smart speaker as Google voice assistant, one of best value smart speakers.

The other nest router different with its nest satellite is that nest router is dual band ac2200, while nest satellite is dual band ac1200.

So what about the difference between new generations of Google nest pro and 2nd G nest wifi? Take a look at the following table 1 below that shows you spec comparison between google nest and nest pro.

Wifi Generation

The main difference is the wifi technology applied to each of the product series. Google nest 2nd generation comes to engineered using legacy wifi5 standard dual band ac2200. On the other hand, the latest series google nest pro comes designed using latest wifi 6e technology; three distinct radio bands with the introduction of 6ghz in addition of common 2.4ghz and 5ghz radio bands. As we aware that this 6ghz radio band will also come in the next generation of wifi7 technology that has been around the corner.

Tp-link has introduced various models of wifi 7 products including Deco BE85, BE95 that sit on top level segment, while you can also find its lower model Deco BE63. See also Deco BE63 vs Asus BT6

If you have couples of desktop computers with available pci-e slots available, you may add latest pci-e wifi 6e adapters to support google nest pro and connect using 6ghz band for fast lane and low latency, or any other popular models of wifi 6 adapters with pci-e or usb type models.

Lower Processor?

What I’m wondering is that this new google nest pro is embedded with lower dual core arm cpu instead of quad core arm cpu as on previous series nest 2nd generation. Does it mean this nest pro can perform in its best by just using dual core cpu? I have no idea, no clue.

Unlike previous nest wifi model that gives you options to using three router nodes, or using router node plus one or more satellite nodes, this new google nest pro comes with interchangeable router or extender nodes. There is no difference which one is router node and which one is extender, the first router node connecting to modem will act as mesh wifi router and the other nodes act as extender. This is almost the same configuration model as deco series, or asus zenwifi series, but not the same as orbi series.

The bad news with this Google nest pro if you already have previous google nest series is that they are not compatible each other.

How this Google nest pro series will compete with similar products released by tplink, asus or others? Let’s take tplink deco xe75 pro and compare with this nest pro series.

Google Nest Pro vs Deco

Similar product is offered by TP-link in this wifi 6e middle network segment, the deco xe75, you know that few models are introduced with top notch tier axe11000 such as asus zenwifi et12, netgear orbi rbke963, and also deco xe200.

Deco XE75 Pro
Deco XE75 Pro

As a reference, table 2 below shows you spec comparison table for Google nest pro vs deco xe75 pro. Knowing that the price difference between the two products is quite lots, many people try to compare the products based on data specifications.

Wifi network

Both products are engineered based on recent wifi 6e technology with the addition of 6ghz radio band instead of just 2.4 and 5ghz bands to deliver three distinct radio bands. The communication between router and satellite nodes commonly uses wifi backhaul and optional wired Ethernet backhaul. Nest adopts dynamic wifi backhaul automatically, all the three radio bands share with connected devices.

On the other hand, deco xe75 pro is designed to use dedicated backhaul @6ghz band by default. However, when you need to enable this 6ghz band to allow client’s connection you need to enable it to share network instead of dedicated backhaul from the app.

When it comes to use wired backhaul for reliable wired connection between nodes, you can use network cable and connect each node accordingly either using daisy chain or star topology backhaul. With only two Ethernet ports, you can use daisy chain topology for nest. Deco allows you to adopt either daisy chain or star topology for three kits.

Internet speed

Both nest and deco are ready for internet plan up to 1Gbps. However for multi-gig internet plan nest is not ready but deco is with its 2.5gbps wan port. Few models of high speed docsis 3.1 cable modem come with high speed 2.5gbps ethernet port such as arris s33 and netgear cm2000.

Alternative Products

Tenda had released its wifi 6 lineup products with new two products that work at middle range network segment, the Tenda MX15 and Tenda MX21 Pro. The MX15 is the higher bandwidth model that works at ax5400 network segment in addition of the previous model MX12 AX3000.

Tenda MX21 6e

The Tenda MX21 Pro is the first product that is designed based on the wifi 6e standards, and the price tagged is around $310. I believe that the price will drop over time, while at the same time Google Nest Pro is beginning to drop the price lower than its MSRP in some online stores like Amazon.

So Google nest pro will compete with this new Tenda MX21 Pro knowing that the price is lower than Google Nest Pro. Let’s see how this MX21 performs when it comes to compete with Nest Pro. Table 3 below shows you spec comparison table between MX21 and Nest pro.

Technically both Google Nest pro and MX21 Pro sit at the same middle network segment, a slightly speed difference @2.4GHz band. And you can see that in terms of the number of Ethernet port, MX21 pro comes with three ports while Google comes with only two ports.

The other thing you may also consider is the processor that comes embedded on Tenda MX21 is quad core as opposed to Nest Pro that comes with only dual core processor. This should give MX21 pro a preference choice than Nest Pro in terms of the network processing power.

TP-LinkArcher AXE300

With this dynamic in mind, the crucial decision arises: should one gravitate towards the novel allure of wifi 7 products, or does the recent evolution of wifi 6E products presented by TP-Link and Asus hold the upper hand?

Archer AXE300 vs Archer BE800

Let’s delve into the distinctions between the recent Archer AXE300, based on the latest wifi 6E technology, and the new Archer BE800, heralding the advent of the next generation wifi 7. To fully appreciate these differences, a glance at the spec comparison table below, juxtaposing the two TP-Link Archer series, will provide clarity.

The Archer AXE300 resides one generation behind the Archer BE800. While the aggregated bandwidth exhibits a difference of approximately 3,000Mbps, it’s crucial to note that the Archer AXE300 stands as a quad-band wifi 6E router, whereas its counterpart, the Archer BE800, takes the form of a tri-band wifi 7 router. Both series do indeed embrace the 6GHz radio band; however, the BE800 boasts a double-channel bandwidth as opposed to the AXE300, leading to enhanced data throughput and reduced latency. An important point to consider is that this amplified channel bandwidth can only be harnessed when connecting to devices that also support the same 320MHz channel.

Ethernet Connectivity

Both series arrive equipped with two multi-Gig 10Gbps Ethernet ports, featuring one RJ45 port and another combo port that accommodates either an RJ45 or SFP+ fiber optic connection. Within this combo setup, the choice must be made between using the RJ45 or SFP+ port at a given time. Furthermore, all of these port types can be flexibly configured to serve as either LAN or WAN connections. See also Arris Surfboard S33 cable modem that comes equipped with 2.5Gbps port.

You may also like to consider Arris G54, a wifi 7 router with built-in cable modem.

It’s worth noting that the new Archer BE800 no longer features 1.0Gbps Ethernet ports. Instead, the lowest Ethernet port now stands at 2.5Gbps, boasting a total of 4x 2.5Gbps ports for LAN connections, supporting an aggregated speed of 5Gbps. MLO

The next generation of wifi 7 technology supports MLO (Multi Link Operation). The MLO is a feature introduced in wifi 7 technology to enhance the efficiency and performance of wireless networks. MLO allows a wifi 7 device, such as a router or access point, to simultaneously connect to multiple client devices across multiple radio bands. This feature can help distribute traffic and optimize data transfer, resulting in improved overall network performance.

In a wifi 7 network, there are typically multiple radio bands available, including traditional 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, as well as the new 6GHz band introduced in wifi 6E. With MLO, a wifi 7 device can establish connections with client devices on different bands simultaneously, aggregating their bandwidth to achieve higher data transfer rates. This is particularly beneficial in scenarios where there are multiple devices concurrently utilizing the network.

It’s important to note that for MLO to work effectively, both the wifi 7 device (router or access point) and the connected client devices need to support this feature. Additionally, not all wifi 7 devices may support MLO, so it’s advisable to check the specifications and capabilities of the specific device you’re interested in.

Archer AXE300 vs Asus Rog Rapture

Now, let’ see how Archer AXE300 perform with Asus Rog Rapture GT-axe16000. As a reference you can use table 2 below for spec comparison between Archer axe300 and Asus Gt-axe16000.

AXE16000

The AXE16000 stands as the current pinnacle in the world of wifi 6E routers, boasting the fastest network segment available in the market. Previously, we observed that leading vendors introduced top-tier wifi 6 and wifi 6E products centered around the AXE11000, exemplified by offerings like the Asus ZenWiFi ET12 AXE11000 mesh wifi 6E and the TP-Link Deco XE200. It appeared that the AXE11000 was the zenith of network tiers. However, both TP-Link and Asus have now unveiled AXE16000 wifi 6E routers, ascending to an unprecedented level of network sophistication.

Asus Rog Rapture GT-AXE16000

This AXE16000 model seems to encapsulate the ultimate network tier achievable in wifi 6E routers before the imminent arrival of the 7th generation of wifi technology (wifi 7). We are well aware that wifi 7 is poised on the horizon. In fact, TP-Link has already showcased several products built upon this wifi-7 technology, including the Deco BE33000, TP-Link Archer BE24000 which have been already available on Amazon.

Huge bandwidth capacity

Amidst this technological evolution, the TP-Link Archer AXE300 AXE16000, serving as direct contenders to the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, feature a quad radio band configuration. This design approach is reminiscent of the popular Orbi RBKE963, acclaimed as the first quad-band product on the market, underpinned by wifi 6E technology. The Archer AXE16000 employs a 4×4 MU-MIMO setup across each radio band, summing up to an impressive 16 data streams, all while ensuring a latency-free network experience—much like the Asus AXE16000.

Currently, the market offers a selection of pci-e wifi 6E adapters, compatible with 2×2 MU-MIMO. Should you have two desktop computers fitted with pci-e slots and these wifi 6E adapters, the router can concurrently deliver two data streams to each computer, facilitating seamless performance.

Mesh Wifi

If larger coverage is needed, no worries this archer axe300 features Onmesh technology you can add compliant onemesh devices such as tplink archer re715x to join and create whole home network. This is similar feature applied to asus gt axe16000 with its Aimesh technology to create mesh wifi network when you add compatible aimesh devices such as asus rp-ax56 ax1800 range extender.

Asus Rog Rapture Port Interfaces

Ultra High Speed Internet Support

TP-Link is immensely generous in equipping this archer axe300 with three options of multi-gig wan ports and the good thing is that each of this port can function either as wan or lan port:

  1. 1x 2.5Gbps wan / lan port
  2. 1x 10Gbps wan / lan port
  3. 1x 10Gbps Ethernet / fiber combo wan / lan port

Option 3 is the combo port that pairs 10Gbps RJ45 port and SPF+ optic port. You cannot use both 10Gbps RJ45 port and at the same time you use SPF+ port for optical port. You can only use either RJ45 port or SPF port at a time.

Default setting

Choosing one of the three WAN port options establishes its respective function for the device. If you designate a WAN port for connection to your modem, the remaining two port options automatically default to LAN ports. For an optimal configuration, it’s advised to employ the 10Gbps combo port as your designated WAN port to interface with the modem. This can be achieved through either an RJ45 cable modem connection or the utilization of the SPF port for fiber/optical modem connections.

From the perspective of ethernet ports, a comparison between the Archer AXE300 and the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 reveals that the key distinction lies in the 10Gbps combo port. While the Archer AXE300 boasts an integrated 10Gbps combo port, the Asus GT-AXE16000 does not incorporate this feature.

However, it’s important to note that the disparity doesn’t solely revolve around the combo port. Asus AXE16000, in fact, employs a default multi-gig 2.5Gbps port as its WAN port for modem connection. Should you require a multi-gig 10Gbps port for WAN connectivity, it’s necessary to initiate the Asus setup wizard and manually designate the 10GE port as the WAN connection.

Dual wan

The Archer AXE300 doesn’t provide the option for dual WAN usage, whereas Asus offers this feature. The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, equipped with dual WAN functionality, empowers you to employ two distinct internet providers. This setup can be configured for either load balancing or failover operation. For instance, the primary WAN might connect to a cable internet provider, while the secondary WAN connects to USB internet, functioning as a backup. With the failover mode, if the primary connection falters, the router seamlessly switches to the secondary connection, reverting back to the primary once it’s restored. You can learn more about configuring dual WAN failover or load balancing by clicking here.

From an internet connection standpoint, the TP-Link Archer AXE300 and AXE16000 offer various WAN connection options, including 2.5GE, 10GE, or optic connections. However, they are restricted to a single WAN connection. In contrast, the Asus AXE16000 supports dual WAN connections, available in failover or load balance modes. This configuration proves indispensable for businesses requiring uninterrupted internet connectivity, ensuring that even a single hour of downtime is unacceptable. The dual WAN setup with failover and failback modes makes the Asus AXE16000 an ideal solution for such critical scenarios.

Security Protection

While security protection against online threats is vital for both home and business networks, it often falls to the wayside in priority for many users. Recognizing this tendency, both TP-Link and Asus embed built-in network protection features into their premium wifi 6/6E products. The TP-Link Archer AXE300 comes equipped with Homeshield, offering a range of features including a home network scanner, parental control, and Quality of Service tools. This built-in software protection is offered as a standard, but for enhanced robustness, upgrading to Homeshield Pro is advised. This advanced version safeguards your network against DDoS attacks, provides IoT device protection, and offers advanced parental control features.

On the other hand, the Asus AXE16000 goes a step further by generously providing free lifetime Asus AiProtection Pro. This similar network protection is bolstered by Trend Micro, providing an added layer of defense for your network.

Game features

For gamers in mind, wifi router with game features to support smooth and fast online gaming experience is a preference. Archer axe16000 doesn’t come with specific game features; however you can give first priority to the game device by enabling QoS by device.

On the other hand, gt-axe16000 is one of Asus Republic of Game (ROG) rapture series which is designed for gamers in mind with its triple level of game accelerator that optimize from the game device, the packet traffic prioritization up to the shortest path selection of the game servers. For lower level of this gt-axe16000 you may also consider asus rog-rapture gt-axe11000.
